Amber and Ray Hollister

This is the part where they bore you with their back story...

In 2018, Amber and Ray Hollister were talking about their dreams, when Amber admitted that she always wanted to run a bookstore — a cozy place where people could meander through the bookshelves, buy a book and a cup of tea and sit down in a comfy chair and read.

Ray, with his many years of working in retail and website development experience knew exactly what to do — go in the exact opposite direction! Without telling Amber anything, Ray reached out to everyone he know (i.e. he posted on Facebook) to see if anyone had any books they wanted to get rid of. The responses flooded in, and before he knew it, he had a few hundred books in his office. Then, he started scanning and listing the books on Amazon, and he started building a spreadsheet inventory of all the books.

It wasn't long before the books were overflowing from Ray's office and his spreadsheet was growing out of control. That's when Ray remembered that he built websites — and you can sell things on websites, like books! Ray moved the inventory over to a website at hollistersbooks.com and showed his present to Amber.

Amber, understandably, did not know why Ray had built a website for her, but pretended to be excited about it, assuming it was just another one of his random projects that would eventually fizzle out. But, then Ray explained that he built it to help her start her bookstore! He explained that they could use the revenue they got from selling used books online to build up the funds to open a physical store.

Amber helped Ray moved all of the books out of his office and into their basement where they toil away sending used books to folks who buy them on hollistersbooks.com and on Amazon. They still don't have a physical store yet, but they are saving up their pennies.
